Abstract

Training and development includes activities that help to hone employees’ skills, knowledge and knack. Trained employees have competencies to meet the current and future needs of organization. Through the instruction and intervention in form of training, the human resources department aids the organizations to determine high-performing and engaged personnel. It helps the employee improve his dexterity and meet the organizational and individual goal as well. The process of training help the employees understand their job description and meet out the organizational expectations. Clearly defined goals and prospects assist the employee to move in a right direction leading to engaging themselves better. As training strengthens the expertise level employees remain committed to the organisation where the organisation will have high retention capacity. Successful implementation of training program will lead to augment in the quality of work and better output from its employees. The researcher has collected the structured questionnaire from hospitals in private sector under pilot study adopting convenient sampling method to ascertain if training and development act as a key driver of employee engagement and retention and if it helps the organisation to grow. Employees from different departments human resources, accounts, billing, house-keeping, stores, nursing unit and like within the organisation were interviewed. The researcher used a small sample size and has come out with findings and suggestions towards the end of the research. The limitation of the study is also dealt with at the latter part.
