Abstract

In developing country like India where economic status of rural areas is very weak and opportunities of earning is less. In this scenario Swarnajayanti Gram Swarojgar Yojana (SGSY/NRLM) is playing a major role in income-generation activities in India. Self Help Groups (SHGs) through the provision of micro enterprises have paved the way for economic independence of rural poor. It is considered as an innovative input for the promotion of self employment. The people are being increasingly pulled into SHGs in finding new ways of generating income through micro enterprise formation. This paper addresses in particular challenges faced by poor entrepreneurs in forming and developing micro enterprises in rural areas through the centrally scheme SGSY and to sustain their new ventures.
