Abstract

Frontline health care workers play a pivotal role in delivery of health care services in rural communities. They are from the community itself and in most cases live in the village too. These include the Asha, Anm and Aww. Though there is no clear cut demarcation about their level of selection. They connect families and communities to the health system. Frontline workers can provide antenatal care, promote healthy newborn care practices at home, provide immunizations, improve care seeking for neonatal illness by providing education in recognition of signs of illness, identify signs of newborn illness and refer sick infants to a health centre.
