Abstract

The study examined the effects of ecological setting (Rural/Semi-urban/Urban) and generational gap (Grandparent, Parent and Children) on aspects of family environment. The results revealed that the ecological setting had significant effect on work orientation, negative affect and criticism and motivation. Similarly, the effect of generational gap was significant on affective interaction and work orientation. However, the interaction (ecological setting and generational gap) effect was not significant. The overall pattern of results evinced that the participants from rural scored higher as compared to semi-urban and urban groups on negative affect and criticism. The children scored higher as affective interaction as compared to grandparents and parents counterparts.
