Home is the first school of the child and mother is the first and the best teacher of the child. The level of the development of the personality of the child greatly depends on the child rearing practices, sympathy and cooperation of the mother. The investigator in the present study has found that the level of home adjustment and emotional adjustment of the female children of non-working mothers were significantly higher than that of their counterparts of working mothers whereas the level of adjustment of the male children of both working and non-working mothers and female children of working mothers have been found as a significant factor for determining their level of academic achievement.
