Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) aims at enhancing the livelihood security to the people in rural areas by guarantying hundred days and wages employment in a financial year. This is considered as a pet program of the U.P.A. Government. This program yielded good results in compare to the earlier wage employment program. To conclude, through there are some shortcomings i.e., corruption, late issue of job cards, delay of wage payment, is really a boon for the rural people. If it is implemented transparently it enhances the standard of living of the rural people.
