Abstract

An effort has been made to explore the impact of changing regulations on import and export of medical devices components in India. An exploration has been done and the findings suggest that the new government regulations have positively impacted the export of the medical devices components and devices of the domestic manufacturers. The import of critical medical devices continue to maintain the status quo. The export of domestic manufactures increased in more than half of the 32 product categories available for the study. 37% of the total product categories show no significant change due to the new regulations. On the front of import 75% of the product categories did not reflect any significant change arising due to the changed regulations in India. 18 % product categories have resulted in growth trend in import in the changed regulatory regime.
