Abstract

State of Israel was established in 1948. Israel is a Jewish and Democratic country under its Basic Law. The majority Israeli Arabs became a minority after the establishment of the state of Israel. Arab Israelis make up 20% of Israel's total population, about 1.2 million people. The majority of Israeli Arabs are Muslim; the rest are Christians and Druze. Other minorities include the Maronites, Samaritans, Doms, black Israelis, other sub-Saharan Africans, Armenians, Circassians, Romans, Vietnamese boat people and others.
