Abstract

The beginning of modern political consciousness can be traced in Bihar from the early Congress day, and somewhere also attracted by the socio-cultural movement in the first decade of the twentieth century. The motto and programme of the servants of India society attracted Rajendra Prasad,1 Sri Krishna Prasad and Ramdyalu Singh. The inauguration of Youths Club, the 'Boys' Association", on the 3rd March, 1809, which derived inspiration from some revolutionaries of East Bengal,2 marked a turning-point in the rise of political consciousness.
