COPING CHALLENGES OF NPA IN PUBLIC SECTOR BANK IN INDIA - STUDY AFTER A DECADE OF ECONOMICS REFORMS

Abstract

Non-Performing Assets (NPA) has been a critical factor in the developmental path of banking industry all over India. The irrecoverable amount of loans from their customers have alarmed the banking business to make selective and strong decisions regarding further disbursal of loans and advances. India adapted its economic reforms in 1991 and till now the banking industry have boomed with a variety of economic services with a problem of increasing non- performing assets in priority and non-priority sectors. Consequently the smooth operation of banking were highly affected and very sector were set aside out of the loaning process. The present paper attempts to study the policy impact on Public sector banks with reference to Non-performing Assets.
