Abstract

The Advaitic philosophy of Shankar is well said to be the best representative of this notion of oneness within the various trends of philosophy. In this respect, the aphorism or mahavakya ‘Aham Brhmasmi’ can be revisited as it forms the basis of this notion of oneness. The meaning of this aphorism can be analyzed in various ways, some of them are: Psychological, Metaphysical, Logical, Mathematical etc. An individual soul can become one with transcendental soul while living in this chaotic realm of the practical world. These concepts give us a world vision of togetherness and nurture the sense of peace, harmony and love among the fellow beings. The meaning of oneness is universal consciousness of being together. This is a state where one directly experiences a non-dual consciousness of everyone and everything and identifies one own self to the underlying unity. This concept encompasses various other great ideals of equality, liberty, feminism, Marxism etc. If, these notions be implemented and nurtured within oneself and to the world than this world would become a better place to live in.
