Abstract

Handloom is one of the age-old practices of making cloth using hands which exemplifies a timeless facet of the rich cultural heritage of our country. Indian handloom sector occupies the second place after agriculture in providing livelihood to millions of people in the rural and suburban belts of our country. However, this sector has many perennial problems such as antiquated technologies, unorganized production system, low productivity range, inadequate working capital, insufficient labor, lack of knowledge about value addition, poor marketing skills, etc. In order to maintain the cultural heritage of our country this study is an attempt to study the various problems faced by the handloom weavers at Negamam. Henry Garett ranking technique and percentage analysis has been used to analyze the present study.
