SURVEY OF ETHNOMEDICINAL PLANTS OF KARJAT TAHSIL OF AHMEDNAGAR DISTRICT, MAHARASHTRA, INDIA

Abstract

The present study was carried out to understand ethnomedicinal plant heritage in the drought-prone area of south region from Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra, India. The Karjat tahsil is located within 18019’86” N to 18049’86” N latitude and 74043’ 20” E to 75013’20” E longitude . During the survey, a total of 52 valuable ethnomedicinal plant species belonging to 37 families were identified with relevant information and were documented with their botanical name, family, common name, part used and utilization by the local people for common ailments. These medicinal plants are used for common diseases like toothache, Skin infections, cough and cold by the people of Karjat. So this use of plants for medicine if studied in scientific way,it will be beneficial for mankind.
