REFERENCE SERVICES DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC IN HOMOEOPATHY COLLEGE LIBRARY

Abstract

This article explores the role of health science librarians in the coronavirus pandemic COVID‐19. Rapid spread of COVID 19 has put countries and cities around the globe under lockdown. In India. the first case was diagnosed on Kerala on 30th January 2020, and currently, there are more than 1 lack diagnosed cases and 26 deaths as on 22 May 2020. In India lockdown measures were initiated on 21st March 2020. Higher education sector resirted to online classes for continuing subject courses. However medical education was put in an unprecedented scenario. On one hand there is an increased demand and expectation from health care workers , while on other the medical education suffered from same hurdles resorting to online classes. Library information services are a key element in education. An Initiative has been taken to evaluate role of Reference Service in medical college library. Two type of Reference Service Ready Reference Service And long rang Reference Service. Ready Reference Service face to face Service in which librarian answer the user’s question directly, In such service librarian individually helps the users to retrieve the information we call long rang Reference Service.
