OPTIMISTIC OUTLOOK ON LIFE SKILLS EDUCATION AND SELF CONFIDENCE OF ADOLESCENCE OF HIGH SCHOOL

Abstract

Life skill is the prospective potential, positive and adaptive behavior that enables high school adolescence to deal effectively and efficiently with the demands and challenges of everyday life. Life skills education goal is to impart knowledge for attitude change and behaviour modification through holistic learning experiences aimed at developing not only knowledge and attitudes but also the skills needed for high school adolescence to make informed decisions for positive behavior change in future. Life skills are to be evolved in schools as part of a whole school initiative designed to sustain a positive and healthy psychosocial development of high school adolescence. The self is not a stagnant unit but quite a multifarious set of properties and processes through which one infer the authenticity of one’s verdict. Nurhayati , Rosmaiyadi &Buyung (2017) mentions that confidence is the belief in self and self-ability, a mental attitude that trusts or relies on oneself. Self Confidence is perceived as one’s ability to act effectively in a state of affairs to triumph over obstacles and to get hold of objects in desired altitude. The findings of the present study divulge that there is a significant level of Life Skills Competence among high school students and girls have better Life Skills Competence than boys. The current study additionally reveals that there is significant difference in Life Skills Competence of high school students with regard to parental education. It divulges that there is a significant level of self confidence among high school students. The current study reveals that there is significant difference between the Self Confidence of high school students with regard to type of school.
