Abstract

Bedagampana or the Bedar tribe belongs to the famous Dravidian language family group. The community is found in several places of Karnataka and has a population of 19240. This research study was carried out to know their land holding pattern, cattle rearing, identification of households, and basic amenities provided for the Bedagampana households in Hanur taluk of Chamarajanagara district in Karnataka State. Descriptive research design and simple random sampling technique was used in this study along with descriptive statistics like frequency and percentage. The population of this study was 3848 households, and the sample size was 70 households. There were a low percentage of Bedagampana households with RTC land records and no household with forest rights. Majority of the households rear cows, all the households have identification cards, and their basic amenities are also good. Even though the life of this community is satisfactory, more efforts are needed to uplift the community.
