Abstract

Human Resource management strategy constitutes a major component of educational system of a nation. In many countries of the world including India, this has been accorded an important place in their efforts at achieving developmental goal. However, Human Resource management is greatly determined by the standard of education in a country. This paper is aimed at examining the effects low standard of education in higher education in India regarding Human Resource management. Using only secondary data, it was discovered that both the National Policy on Education and the Indian Constitution emphasise the importance of investing in human resource through education for accelerated economic, political and social development. However, finding shows that, the present rate of underdevelopment and untrained personnel in the country is a consequence of the decline in the quality and functional education in the country. The paper thus suggests that, for a reversal of the trend, there is the need for proper educational planning strategy, monitoring and evaluation, better learning environment and adequate funding. Corruption and indiscipline in the educational sector should also be tackled headlong.
