MENTAL HEALTH IN RELATION TO EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE AMONG ADOLESCENT STUDENTS

Abstract

The present study was designed to assess the Mental health and Emotional Intelligence level of adolescents and to find if the any relationship between Mental Health and Emotional Intelligence. The study was a descriptive one and made use of the Mental health scale and Emotional Intelligence scale as a research tool. A total of 600 adolescents, studying in arts, science and engineering colleges, were randomly selected. The tools, used in the study, were the Mental health scale – constructed and standardized by Kalesh Sharma (2002) and Emotional Intelligence Scale developed by Anukool Kyde and Sanjyoy Pethe’s (2001). The study concluded that there is a significant positive relationship between Mental Health and Emotional intelligence of adolescents.
