A RESEARCH STUDY ON LOCUS OF CONTROL OF DEGREE FINAL YEAR STUDENTS IN KURNOOL TOWN

Abstract

The study was done to find out whether the Degree final year students believe in themselves there capacities and exercise of them to get required benefits or not to they feel that some known/unknown factors are responsible for the hipping in life? What are the expectancies? How do there believes influence their achievement will be certain in the study. To test this, the study was conducted on 200 Degree final year students from Kurnool town of Andhra Pradesh state sample drawn from randomly selected degree colleges of Government and Private. Locus of Control scale was administered to randomly select four colleges. The self-reported responses of the subjects were recorded, scored and subjected to ‘t’ analysis and ’f’ analysis. It was found that degree final year students of Kurnool town have nearly 65% of internal locus of control. Male students have higher level of locus of control than that of female students. Discipline at home for students influenced as discipline at college not influenced locus of control. Medium of Instruction, Type of management and Socio economic status did not influence locus of control of students.
