Abstract

In the present context, the technical appraisal of the Narrative in Aravind Adiga’s, “Selection Days” (SD) done and it became apparent, that the methods of the Narrative are an inherent and integral component of a novel that has the firm origin in its structure. The allegorical comparison of an idea and form resembles the pair of thread and needle, the absence of one makes other dysfunctional. Hence, Narratology is the study of Form and Function of the Narrative. Whereas Narrative, identify everything that tells a story. The narratological study is institutionalized and its need minimum of two activities to form a Narrative. The writing of this novel is in chronologically episodary form, Narrative type, singular third-person point of view. The story depicts the trauma of upbringing of the wonder child, whose overbearing parents forced and manipulated their ward to pursue the trade of their choice, especially when child dis-approved. These parents un-intentionally suck own child’s freedom and caged them mentally and physically, and restrict their choice, needs, urges, voices and inter-personal relations at a tender age. The study of these child stars shows bitterness, frustration, resentment, and anger in their later life against the parents and the society. The child star bore the abnormal high stress of cutthroat competition, and lives a very controlled life and renounces many traits of infancy, and teenage this damages their own ability and psyche. In addition, this fashions their mediocre performance or failure, in the carrier and later on, in the upcoming life.
