Abstract

ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) works as an interface between community and the public health system. ASHA identified as most efficient care taker of rural women especially during pregnancy. ASHA workers are the primary source to create awareness among rural women about reproductive health issues. Usually, ASHA has been allocated the duty to identify beneficiaries to facilitate timely registration of pregnancy, receipt of at least four antenatal checkups, encourages mothers for institutional delivery, to escort and stay with till discharge. Their counseling and home visits promote child immunization, breast feeding, family planning services primarily from public health facilities.
