Abstract

Western Rajasthan has varied climatic conditions, temperature and rainfall pattern and for systematic study of dry farm agriculture practices, dryland region has been divided into three categories viz. extreme arid, arid and semi arid conditions. Generally rainfall pattern is treated as deciding factor for delineation of aridity in the region. In addition there are various factors which play vital role in making the varying conditions. Churu district is situated in heart of western Rajasthan but extreme temperature prevalence distinguishes the area with other parts of western Rajasthan. Similarly every district has distinct specialities which distinguishes from other areas. Therefore, generalized criteria or application system is not possible.
