SOCIAL CONSTRUCTION OF HIV/AIDS IDENTITY AND CULTURAL CYNICISM: A QUEER PERSPECTIVE

Abstract

Chronic Disease like HIV/AIDS often precipitates about the redefinition of individual self . The prominence of a particular identity might also be influence by the intrinsic or extrinsic rewards received for enacting that identity ( Mccall and Simmons, 1978) . The loss of positive social identity such as a work identity due to the reveal of HIV/AIDS identity and that meant that individuals were afflicted with negative social identity within the culture that hold individual social responsibilities for their health . HIV/AIDS identity constituted a nexus that affects the others salience identity also and function symbolically one can’t be isolated from others .
