Abstract

Tourism has been globally recognized as one of the important economic activities. Selected countries enjoy the privilege of being a hub of spiritual activities that attract tourism from all over the world apart from the domestic tourism. The Vatican City, the United Arab Emirates are some such countries whose economics are greatly dependent on the spiritual heritage. Uttarakhand is also known for its spiritual establishments. Thus, it is logical to analyses the impact of religious tourism in the context of the state’s economy Uttarakhand is a state in North Indian region of Himalayas. The state is popularly known as Devbhumi (land of Gods) due to the presence of numerous Hindu pilgrimage sites. As a result, religious tourism forms a major portion of the tourists in the state.
