AFFIRMATIVE ACTION IN USA AND MALAYSIA

Abstract

Public policy which accords special concession in matters of admission to sought- after courses of education and training, appointments, promotions, housing, health care, etc. to those who were deprived of adequate opportunities in an open competition, particularly due to some discriminatory practices of the pas. That is it meant to compensate the relevant sections for the injustice meted out to them in the past. Usually affirmative action largely seeks to address structural inequalities between different groups in societies. Affirmative action is known by different names in different countries example employment equity in Canada, reservation in India and Nepal, and positive discrimination in the UK. Positive discrimination in the USA:
