Abstract

School management committees (SMCs) play a vital role for proper implementation of RTE act 2009. It is highly important to analyze parent’s perception in this regard. The present study examined the parents’ perception about functioning of SMCs in four government school of Kurukshetra District of Haryana. For testing null hypothesis, t-test was employed to see significance of difference in the perception of rural and urban parents. It was found that there is significant difference in the perceptionof rural and urban parents towards the functioning of SMC in the implementation of RTE act 2009.The SMC has to go beyond merely achieving the quantitative objectives of education i.e. enrolment, attendance etc for successful implementation of RTE act 2009.
