Abstract

ABSTRACT The purpose of the study was to ascertain the effect of 8-week meso cycle of training on explosive strength of intermediate level male sports persons whose ages ranged between 16 to 20 yrs. The subjects of the study were 20 males who were regularly training at Khel Parisar, Faridabad, Haryana. Explosive strength of the subjects was measured by administering standing broad jump test and recorded in meters. Thereafter the subjects followed a plyometric training program of 8-week duration. The program involved different variations of hopping, bounding and depth jumps. In addition the subjects also followed ABC training so as to develop important associated components of explosive strength. The data was analyzed using means difference method (t-ratio). The t-ratio obtained was 9.75 which revealed that the training program was effective in enhancing the legs explosive strength of the subjects.
