Abstract

Introduction of Kanyashree Prakalpa is a kind of conditional cash transfer (CCT) mechanism. This scheme seeks to provide short –term income support and at the same time promote long term behavioral change. It is effective for poor and socially disadvantaged sections specially girls. Identifying, the shortcomings in existing CCT scheme for children, the government of west Bengal come forward to launch an upgrade CCT scheme. Kanyashree prakalpa is a result of this. The objective of the study are overview of Kanyashree prakalpa, finding and analyzing its effect on dropout of girls child in west Bengal, finding and analyzing its effect on child marriage of girls. The present study tries to find whether this scheme actually able to improve the rate of school attendance of girl and simultaneously to look child marriage number has declined or not. Both primary and secondary data have been used for this study. Primary data is collected from various government aided schools and secondary data has been collected from various daily journal, website etc. After a study, it is evident that this present scheme takes a great role in every regard, regarding social power and self esteem of girls.
