The status of women as mother has been highly honored and respected in our society. The most important role that a woman plays is that of a mother.. This paper particularly deals with the health status of rural women with particular focus on status of Ante Natal checkups of pregnant rural women and breast feeding practices prevalent among the lactating mothers in the rural areas of district Almora. . The paper analyses the primary data collected from 280 rural women of 6 Gram Panchayats across three development blocks of district Almora on two important health indicators namely the status of Anti-Natal Checkups and breast feeding by lactating mothers.
