AN ANALYTICAL STUDY OF THE PORTRAYAL OF WOMEN IN INDIAN SOAP OPERAS

Abstract

Indian Soap operas are depicting women involved in premarital, conspiracy, Pre, Post & extra marital, material illicit affairs, wearing costly golden and diamond jewellary and spending time in family feuds, illicit love affairs, parties, heavy make ups, luxury things etc. Female is portrayed as a glamorous thing whose physical beauty is her only asset. This analytical study presents an analysis of current serials based on women empowerment and emancipation.
