AYUSH IN PUBLIC HEALTH – REVIEW OF AYUSH IN HEALTH COMMITTEES AND EDUCATION

Abstract

India is the only country has distinct National Policy on Indian systems of Medicine and Homeopathy (ISM&H Policy) 2002 which emphasizes the achievement of health for all through Ayush. India which has developing economy and varied needs in all walks of development has the different health indicators in the 28 states. In India health is the state issue, however the PHC system in rural area is similar across the nation, with different priorities based on local situation. Indian system of medicine has been accepted in the all parts of country however the utilization of AYUSH manpower and prioritization is different. In this review an attempt has been made to provide general information pertaining to different public health committees and their virtue on ISM, and present scenario of ISM. This will help reader to understand the evolution of public health in modern India and development of ISM as a part of healthcare delivery system, additionally the situation of ISM medical education in India.
