Abstract

Abstract The investigator in this study tries to find out the level of general teaching competency among the B.Ed. trainees of Marathi and Hindi Method and find the significant difference if any in general terms, gender wise and method wise. Introduction: Teachers have always played a pivotal role in the society. ‘The future of the nation is being shaped in our classrooms.’ Children are our future nation builders. Therefore, the teachers have a great responsibility in moulding the character of children by giving quality education in the school. “Of all the different factors which influence the quality of education and its contribution to national development, the quality competence and character of teacher is undoubtedly the most significant.” Competency – refers to the knowledge possessed by teacher about the teaching process and is specified as outcome expected from the performance of professionally related functions.
