Abstract

Introduction: Health Insurance is fast emerging as an important mechanism to finance health care need of the people. The need for insurance system that works on the basic principle of pooling the risk of unexpected cost of people falling ill and needing hospitalization by charging premium the various studies indicated that the annual expenditure in India is increasing at a rapid pace in both urban and rural areas with improved literacy level rising income and the expansion of electronic and print media increases the awareness of health insurance. The health care industry expending in India at about 6% of its total G D P which is considerably high as compare to the developing and emerging economy. The opening of health insurance to the private sector I R D A Act 2000 has provided immense opportunities for both the public and private sector. The present study makes an attempt to study the customer satisfaction in Allahabad District which has a metropolitan culture. The sample companies consist of one Public Sector and one private sector from the public sector New India Assurance and from Private Sector ICICI Lombard have been selected.
