THE PERSPECTIVE AND SCENARIO OF EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT IN COMPANIES OF NORTHERN INDIA

Employee engagement has direct impact on the employee’s productivity. The paper aims at finding employee engagement in companies of northern India. Further correlation between employee engagement and related indices as employee satisfaction, performance, turnover and absenteeism was also investigated. In this study 240 employees from six companies were enrolled. As a part of research plan, participants had to respond to same questionnaire twice. After first event of data collection (referred pre test), the companies were made compliant to 17 selected issues pertaining to safety, comfort, working conditions of employees, organizational set up etc.. Then a lay off period of six months was observed, after which the same participants responded to the same questionnaire (referred post test). It was found that degree of employee engagement was significantly high inpost test conditions.
