Abstract

The Magadhan empire had a profound impact on the history of post-Mauryan India. Although the political power of one region or one ruling family over the Indian sub-continent came to an end, it did not mean decline or set back for the society as a whole. On the other hand, the empire had initiated processes of change in many region, and these processes of change reached a level of maturity in the post-Maurya period.
