Abstract

The primary object of criminal procedure is to ensure a fair trial to every person accused of any crime. The notion of a fair trial has close link with the basic and universally accepted human right1. It may however be noted that the fairness of a criminal trial should not be measured in absolute term. Right to a fair trial is a concept which is essentially embodied in the Constitution of India.
