Abstract

Transgender people are commonly known as ‘Hijra’ in India (Gurvinder Kalra, 2012). Their existence was found in Indian mythology. Great epic ‘Mahabharata’ said about ‘Shikhandi’ who was a Hijra and played a vital role in battle of Kurukshetra. Documentary proof revealed the existence of ‘Khojwa’ (Transgender) who played vital role to guard Mughal harem.
