Abstract

The word didi is used to address the older sister. It includes a sense of respect. Traditionally, the word is still in the public domain. This brief analysis provides an insight into the emergence of a rural self-help group (SHGs) for women - Bihar Rural Livelihoods Promotion Society (BRLPS): JeeVika - where the issue was raised publicly to inform members each other. This article also discusses the potential role of rural women as JEEViKA didis .
