Abstract

An increased risk of hyperglycemia and hypertension is linked to a high body mass index. The development of the metabolic syndrome, one of the most common disorders that predisposes to cardiovascular problems and type 2 diabetes, is accelerated by these risk factors. It is generally agreed upon that in order to reduce risk, individuals who are overweight or obese need to be counselled, given a perspective, and provided doable weight-loss measures.
