Abstract

To a certain extent, Russell’s philosophy was important for T. S. Eliot. Considered together, the works of Bertrand Russell (1872-1970) and T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) reveal a reciprocal influence. The documents relating to the influence begin with the series of formal lectures delivered by Russell at Harvard, while Eliot was a doctoral student in philosophy there, and end in the former’s record of meetings and letters in his autobiography (1967-69).
