Abstract

Power transition theory, which Organski initially formulated in the late 1950s and later improved, has served as the foundation for much of the current discussion regarding China’s ascent. Organski proposed a hierarchical order of major powers that comprises a dominating power at the top and other significant powers that are typically content with the status quo at the bottom.
