Abstract

Seeking recognition for India as a power of consequence on the global stage has been a persistent feature of Indian foreign policy over the years. Ever since the time of India gaining independence from British colonial rule, India's foreign policy makers have always yearned and aspired to seeing India being counted as a major power in the global community of nations. This paper looks at the efforts of India’s foreign policy makers in this direction and also attempts to shed a light on the obstacles faced by India in realising its dream of becoming a major global power.
