Abstract

Complexity of interaction between any two states can lead to very remarkable relationship between them. India and China are geographically in proximity and account combined population of nearly 2.4 billion - two-fifth of the total world population. The nature of relations between India and China has considerable impact on the Asian politics and world as a whole and vice versa. The John Garver, mentioned in his book “Protracted Contest: Sino-India Rivalry in the Twentieth First Century (2001) that unless India do not ameliorate its lackluster development record, cannot assume role as junior partner to an emerging Chinese superpower. India-China relations are mainly driven by their foreign policy trajectory and domestic developments.
