Abstract

: Over the previous many centuries, India and its neighbours have forged deep cultural ties. The huge expanse of land extending from Afghanistan in the west to Myanmar in the east was a part of Indian territory for various protracted periods of time throughout its history. However, the close linkages between India and its neighbours’ cultures, histories, languages, customs, food, and religious beliefs have not been enough to guarantee amicable and stable relations. Instead, many of these characteristics have occasionally been used by India’s neighbours to emphasise their individuality and identities as being distinct from India.
