Abstract

The globalization of world trade raises concerns about the interaction between trade and the environment. Growth in the economy due to increased commerce has a clear and immediate negative impact on the environment, either through increasing pollution or degrading natural resources. As reported by the International Energy Agency, 40% more CO2 is present in the atmosphere than before the industrial revolution. Consequently, the global average temperature has gone on to escalate in recent years.
