Abstract

Industry is the interface where interactions of different groups manifest as a source of conflict with lasting consequences for society. Present paper attempts to explain the conflict between managers / owners and workers as reflected in its particular type viz. Strike and tries to find out the correspondence between the level of class consciousness and strike activity. Strikes are the most visible and most spectacular aspect of industrial conflict. An adequate industrial environmental setting seems necessary to boost up workers’ level of class consciousness to make them aware of their conditions and identity so that they could retaliate against the atrocities of their employers. The higher the level of class consciousness the chances of strike activity will be more.
