Abstract

The current paper attempts to examine changes in landuse pattern in Haryana from 1966 to 1969, 1990 to 1993, and 2010 to 2013. The study is based on secondary data, which was obtained from the Haryana statistical abstract. The study found that marginal changes have occurred in all landuse categories, with the exception of the proportion of area covered by forest, which has decreased dramatically from 2.08 percent in 1966-69 to 0.9 percent in 2010-13. From 1966-69 to 1990-93, net sown area increased, but from 1990-93 to 2010-13, net sown area remained constant. The percentage of land used for non-agricultural purposes has increased from 5.92 percent in 1966-69 to 11.93 percent in 2010-13.
