while examining the text of Lal Ded within the literary canon through a new lens, it is revealed that men and women are equal in terms of soul. It is apt to mention here that her poetry points to the difference between the soul and the flesh. The soul has no gender but the gender comes from the flesh only. She execrated the so called religious monopolists for misinterpreting the fundamental principles of Hinduism for there vested interests resulting gender discrimination and social stagnation.
