Abstract

Azerbaijan is one of the countries that declared independence after the disintegration of Soviet Union, on 30th august1991. Mutalibov was elected as the first president of new independent Azerbaijan. During the first year of independence, Azerbaijan has faced various challenges such as social and economic crisis, political instability, and the major issue was the Nagorno-karabakh conflict which permanently displaced most of the people. These critical situations got relatively stabilized when Hyder Aliyev came to power on 3rd October1993 and established a stable frame work in Azerbaijan society.
