Abstract

Feminism helps us understand and challenge the oppression of women. Feminist theories attempt to analyze women's oppression, its causes and consequences, and suggest strategies and directions for women's liberation. By the mid 1970s, feminist writers had raised the issues that patriarchal modes of thinking encouraged not only widespread inferiorizing and colonizing of women, but also discriminate against animals and nature. According to Sheila Collins sexism, racism, class exploitation, and ecological destruction are the four main factors which contribute to the ‘male dominated culture’.
